Some of you might know the food blog I had for years during college, called Masha’s Jars. And although I changed the name to Skoudi Foodie, the former left an imprint of recognition.
Building a brand new blog about traveling, I wanted to stay close to my core and use a name people would resonate with.
Since I’m all over Google Maps, with customized pins and all of that extravaganza, it was a logical step to call this website “Masha’s Maps”.
Moreover, I love to share good finds from all the places I visit. I usually go by recommendation, test the place, and then spread the word. I find this a beautiful way to connect to the place, the locals, and anyone who wants a good rec.
I am starting this blog in the beginning of 2024, while on my solo trip through Asia. I’ve always used Instagram as my creative outlet, but I’ve been bursting with excitement to share my experiences and learnings on a larger scale for a while. Being born in Kyrgyzstan from Russian parents, brought up in Flemish Belgium, and having ignited my “wanderlust” aged 16 as an exchange student in the USA, my life has been a crazy mix of cultures. And ever since, I have just continued exploring and connecting.
From a teenage dream of living in California, to an attempt to reduce plastic waste in Senegal, I’m committed to making my travels intentional. The pleasure of traveling goes hand in hand with purpose, such as personal development, working on my business, or simply reuniting with friends.
Whether it’s navigating the NYC subway solo or finding serenity in Kyrgyzstan during the chaos of covid, I’m here to share the real deal on travel – the good, the bad, and the downright hilarious. Let’s explore this world together, one blog post at a time.
As a passionate female solo traveler, I embark on journeys near and far, fueled by a desire to discover myself and continue learning about the world.
